The Kiss ( tschech. Hubička ), is an opera in two acts by Bedřich Smetana. The libretto was written by Eliska Krásnohorská on the story by Karolina Svetla. The premiere of the work took place in Prague on České Divadlo Prozatímní ( Provisional Theatre ) on 7 November 1876.

Action

Lukáš ' wife died recently, but he has another wife in the eye. So he sends his brother- Tomeš to Vendulka, in which he was in love before his wedding. Despite the doubts of Vendulkas father, there is initially no difficulties. Only when the two celebrate their engagement, Vendulka do not want him to kiss, because this was only possible after their wedding. Lukáš is furious and hurry away. With some musicians, he comes back to tease her, he kisses also another. She seeks advice from Martinka, this recommends her to join the smugglers. Lukáš does not let up and goes after her. Tomeš persuaded him to pardon. Vendulka can be of Matous, the smuggler boss, and persuade Martinka. Now there is a big festival of reconciliation - Vendulka wants Lukáš kiss, but now he opposes. But he wanted to show his kindness and an engagement kiss Now nothing stands in the way.
