The Most Serene Republic

The Most Serene Republic is a Canadian indie rock band from Milton (Ontario). The name refers to the independent Republic of Venice of the Doges, which was called " Serene Republic ".

Originally founded Ryan Lenssen and Adrian Jewett mid-2003, a duo under the name Thee Oneironauts (pronounced O- nye - rawn - nauts ) and took an EP entitled Night of the Lawnchairs on which to Lenssens concept band " Rushing to redlights " supported. Thee Oneironauts developed into a trio, as the guitarist Nick Greaves joined them.

Her debut as The Most Serene Republic, the band released, belonged to the now six members, 2004 Underwater Cinematographer on the label Sunday League Records. A slightly different version was published in the summer on the Arts & Crafts label. The Most Serene Republic were the first band on this label that did not belong in any way to Broken Social Scene. On 2 October 2007, the second album was released population.
