The Nashville Teens

The Nashville Teens was an English singing group, which was founded in 1962 in Weybridge, Surrey, England.

Background

The name gave the musicians out of enthusiasm for the American country music - whose stronghold Nashville ( Tennessee) is.

In 1963, the Nashville Teens several months backing of "Killer" Jerry Lee Lewis during his performances at the legendary Star Club in Hamburg. Then they drove back to England and went first with Bo Diddley on tour and then with a band called the Minutemen. That should pay off, as a member of the Minutemen, Mickie Most, in 1964 producer and took the Nashville Teens under his wing.

Most produced with them a version of John D. Loudermilks " Tobacco Road ," which became a hit in both England and America.

The Nashville Teens were a popular band for film and television. In the movie " Pop Gear" they played together with the Honeycombs, The Rockin ' Berries, The Animals, Herman 's Hermits, Peter & Gordon, The Remo Four, The Spencer Davis Group and The Beatles. " Gonk Go Beat " was a second film.

In England, the Nashville Teens were to be found in the charts until 1966, even though songs like The Little Bird ( 1965) or The Hard Way ( 1966) did not reach high prices more. The group, which existed until the mid-70s, was subject to constant change of members. The most famous members were Barry Jenkins, who went to the Animals 1966, and John Hawken, the mid-70s renaissance joined. The rest of the band was still working partially as a backing band of musicians such as Chuck Berry and Carl Perkins.

John Allen later produced, inter alia, Bon Jovi.
