Action

The film is about a Luxembourg, Catholic priest Abbé Henri Kremer, who is imprisoned in the Nazi concentration camp at Dachau in Bavaria. It is based on the autobiographical story " Pastor 25487 " by Jean Bernard about his stay as a prisoner in the Dachau concentration camp pastor block. Kremer is released for nine days from the Dachau concentration camp to his superior, Bishop Philippe, to persuade them to cooperate with the German occupying forces. In the event of his escape being threatened him with the murder of all his fellow priests in the parish priest of the bearing block. Kremer, who makes himself the most serious allegations because he did not share a tiny water reservoir with an ill fellow inmate and this eventually seeks death in the camp fence, is beset by Untersturmführer Gebhardt every day to carry out his order. Gebhardt himself was aspiring Catholic priest, who joined shortly before his ordination in the SS. He is torn between his unconditional loyalty to the ideology of the Nazis and the experiences he made during a stay in a concentration camp in Eastern Europe. Kremer returns on the ninth day back to the camp without being become the "Judas", Gebhardt wanted to make of him.

Criticism

Filmdienst 23/2004: Fictional drama based on a authentic concentration camp diary, which is staged as visually or acoustically, harassing, in the lead roles impressively played chamber drama about the loneliness of an existential decision and with the theming of guilt and forgiveness often overlooked dimensions the genocide picks.
