The Path (video game)

The Path is a computer game by Tale of Tales, which was released for PC and Mac in 2009. The game takes up the motif of the fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood by the player is one of six sisters lead through the woods to grandmother's house. The only statement is not to leave the forest path to the house, next to the player but also the opportunity is open to explore the forest off the beaten path.

The distribution of the game was made exclusively via the Internet, with a version for the gaming platform Steam was offered. Even before its release The Path was very well received by the trade press, was being discussed primarily on the concept and the look of the game.

Action

The plot of the game is limited to a small number of frame elements which are partly explained partly in the game only on the corresponding website. It is one of six sisters of the city to live on a forest path to the house of the sick grandmother to bring the wine and cakes.

Gameplay

The only given instruction on the part of the game is to visit the grandmother's house and not to leave the default path. However, it is always possible to deviate from the path and run into the forest. After a certain distance to the path but it disappears and can not be found again by the reverse; the forest closes in a loop.

In the forest itself, the player can find different places and objects, which are divided into different groups:

• Places where a certain event happens: For each of the six sisters, there is a specific place where they can raise an event. Per playthrough only three of these places can always be sought, including for each specific girl and two more random.
• Places where an icon is enabled in the basket: The basket of the player is in addition to wine and cake space for other objects, which can be found in the forest and on the path in the course of the game. Some may be out of all the girls, others may be found only on very specific.
• Flowers: Distributed in the forest are 144 flowers which can be picked by the sisters and then to appear at the edge of the basket
