The Pick of Destiny is the soundtrack album by American rock band Tenacious D for the film Kings of Rock - Tenacious D ( in the original: Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny ). It was released on 14 November 2006 by Epic Records.

Genesis

The Pick of Destiny is the first studio release of Tenacious D after their selbstbenannten debut album Tenacious D from the year 2001. The album was produced by John King ( Dust Brothers ). On the album several guest musicians can be heard, which are also represented in the film. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters took over the drums on the album, John Spiker bass. Both can also be heard as a guest singer. The electric guitar was played by John Konesky. As another singer, the actor Troy Gentile and the two rock singer Meat Loaf and Ronnie James Dio are heard.

Versions

The album was released in three different versions. A cleaned version came out without swear words, another " Dirty Version " contains the original film score. A more limited version comes in digipak and also contains a poster, tarot cards and a replicated plectrum, which is at issue in the film.

Achievements

The soundtrack reached number # 8 of the U.S. Billboard charts and ranked # 2 of the soundtrack charts. In England, the album was ranked # 10 on the album charts in Germany ranked # 47

Single release

POD ( short for Pick of Destiny ) was released as the soundtrack 's only single on 30 October 2006. She appeared both as a CD and as a vinyl version with different titles. The music video was directed by Liam Lynch, the director of the film. The single reached number # 24 in the UK charts.
