The Rubettes

The Rubettes is a band founded in 1973 from England, whose biggest success was the single Sugar Baby Love from 1974.

This song was their only number - one hit in Germany and the UK and was also placed as the only title of the group in the USA. Sugar Baby Love was originally sung by Paul da Vinci, who, even before the title became a hit, opted for a solo career.

It was followed by numerous other top 10 hits of the Rubettes throughout Europe, including Tonight, Juke Box Jive, I Can Do It and Foe Dee Oh Dee. Baby I know, a ballad in the country-rock style, in 1977, was their last Top 10 hit in the UK.

The first six singles and three albums were produced by Wayne Bickerton and Tony Waddington, who collaborated in the 1960s with ex-Beatle Pete Best. Several titles of the first three albums were recorded by other artists, and chart successes, for example, Way Back in the Fifties from the album Wear It 's ' at Carl Wayne ( formerly of The Move) 1975 Do not Do It Baby from the album We Can Do It and I'm Just Dreaming from the album Mac & Katie Kissoon Rubettes in 1975 and 1976.

From 1976, the Rubettes from producer and composer duo Bickerton & Waddington broke away and produced their singles and albums along with Alan Blakely ( formerly of The Tremeloes ) itself Coupled with this was a foray into the genre of country -rock with songs like Under One Roof, Baby I Know, Some Time in Oldchurch and still unwinding.

Some new albums and singles came out in the 1990s, including Riding on a Rainbow (1992 ), Making Love in the Rain (1995) and in France Smile ( 1994) and The Very Best of the Rubettes (1999). The latter brought together the biggest hits from the 1970s along with new songs from the 1990s and was also placed in the Top 10 charts in France.

The band is still under the name of " The Rubettes feat. Alan Williams " on tour. As a result of a court judgment, there are now two groups called Rubettes. Also, the keyboardist Bill Hurd may da Vinci and other musicians feat along with the former studio singer Paul as " Rubettes. Bill Hurd " occur.
