The Sage Gateshead

The Sage Gateshead is a concert hall and event center in Gateshead, which was opened in 2004. It is the home of the Northern Sinfonia and Folk Works and includes a music school.

The Sage Gateshead was built according to the plans that have been developed by Foster Partners in collaboration with Arup Acoustics. Construction began in 2001 and cost 70 million pounds. It was named after one of the sponsors, the software company Sage Group. The opening weekend began on 17 December 2004.

The building is situated on the banks of the Tyne and essentially consists of three performance halls: The Hall One with up to 1,700 seats, the Hall Two with 400 seats and the Northern Rock Foundation Hall for 200 people. The three halls are connected by serving as a foyer tour together and shielded by a domed roof. The Sage Gateshead is located on an area of ​​8,000 square meters and stands at its highest point about 40 meters into the sky.
