The Seeds

The Seeds was a music group from Los Angeles (USA) and is one of the more well-known representatives of the garage and psychedelic rock. The band was formed in 1965 by vocalist and bassist Sky Saxon. Other members were Daryl Hooper Jan Savage and Rick Andrige.

The music of the first album The Seeds was very simple and is characterized by a raw, unpolished sound. The follow-up single Pushin ' Too Hard achieved through frequent use in local radio number 36 on the Billboard charts. The song was the biggest commercial success of the band. The subsequent album A Web Of Sound was only slightly more complex, but professional produced. The album was psychedelic and therefore also contemporary. So the third album Future came on the Billboard Charts at # 87 The album took the hippie movement and tried very promptly with titles like March Of The Flower Children. It was also the most expensive production of the band. Thus, the original record printed pieces were resolved to complete the picture of the front panel cover. With the collapse of the hippie movement in 1969, the band broke up.

Sky Saxon continued his career. He published in 1971 two more singles on the MGM label under the band name The Seeds. Since then, he published until his death sporadically, mostly under the name of Sky Sunlight Saxon, more singles and albums. From the other band members no other musical activities outside the band are known.

In 2002, the band reformed partially and temporarily for some concerts.
