The Son of the Sheik ( Original: The Son of the Sheik ) is an American silent film by George Fitzmaurice in 1926 with Rudolph Valentino in the lead role. It is the continuation of Valentino film The Sheik ( The Sheik, 1921), which is also based this on a novel by Edith M. Hull.

Action

The Son of the Sheik falls in love with the gypsy Yasmin. He is kidnapped by Yasmin's father André and other gypsies, but freed by his servant Ramadan. Since Ghaba, one of the kidnappers told him that Yasmin was only a decoy, he robs her and holding her captive in his tent. When his father finds out about this, this insists that he leaves free the young woman. He delivered them from the hands Ghabas when he learns the truth.

Background

The film is based on a novel by Edith Maude Hull. Valentino played both the Father and the Son. For William Cameron Menzies was responsible buildings. Carl Raswan presented the Arabian Horse of the sheikh and rode it for the most part as a stunt double in the film itself Valentinos

In the same year Rudolph Valentino's marriage was divorced with Natacha Rambova. His career was in a deep and he hoped to repeat with this continuation of the story his great success he had with the film adaptation of the first part, and to be able to overcome his deep. Using the split-screen technique, he was able to simultaneously act as father and son.

However, before the film opened in the cinema, Valentino died during a promotional tour.
