The Stepfather (2009 film)

The Stepfather by director Nelson McCormick is a remake of the horror film of the same name from 1987. Originally Joseph Ruben directed.

Action

Michael Harding spent a year at the military school. When he returns home, his mother Susan has met a new man: David Harris to his stepfather (English: " The Stepfather " ) are. Outwardly, David acts as the perfect new father and husband, but Michael has the only a bad feeling - he does not trust him.

Along with his girlfriend Kelly, his real father Jay and two of Susan's girlfriends looking Michael in the past David for clues and finds them: David had several families, which he killed, to then again one in a new city with a new name establish new existence. When they finally get behind David's terrible story, it's already too late.

When several people are killed within its environment, Michael understands that his future stepfather is behind him. When he finds the body of his real father in the basement, he does everything to himself, save his family and his girlfriend before they become the next victims. At the end of the fight David Michael rips off the roof and both lying on the ground unconscious.

When Michael wakes up after a month-long coma, he learns of his girlfriend and his mother that David was able to escape before the police arrived. In the last scene we see how he lives in a different area with a new name, job, wife and children.

Background

  • Terry O'Quinn, who embodied the stepfather in the first two original parts, was asked by Nelson McCormick, whether he would play in the remake. According to a statement from producer Mark Morgan O'Quinn has rejected the offer.
