The Story of a Real Man

The Story of a Real Man (also the story of a true man, story of a Real Man Russian Повесть о настоящем человеке ) is an opera ( Opus 117) in three acts by Sergei Prokofiev.

The libretto was written Mira Mendelson and the composer, based on the novel by Boris Polewoi ( German translation The true person ), which retraces the life of the Soviet fighter pilot Alexei Petrovich Maressjew.

The premiere of the opera took place on December 3, 1948 concert in a unique closed performance at the Kirov Theater in Leningrad instead. The scenic premiere took place in Moscow in 1960.
