The Tears

The Tears is a British band that was founded in 2004 by former Suede members and songwriters Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler.

Band History

Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler played since 1988 in the band Suede until both loggerheads during the work on the second album Dog Man Star and Butler left the band in 1994 and launched a solo career. Anderson led the work begun at the end and to the resolution of Suede in 2003, a total of five more albums have been published. Anderson and Butler changed in these years not a word to each other.

After the dissolution of Suede Anderson joined with Butler in contact and at a meeting in a London pub, they decided, in spite of the previous differences, take the common writing songs again. For this collaboration, in which it is to go alone to the music, says Butler: The thing has only one goal and that is to make a great album. There are no social ambitions, we do not go along cones.

The result of this joint work is in June 2005 under the label V2 Records ( rough trade ) released debut album Here come The Tears, which consists of 13 songs from the songwriting duo. The choice of the name The Tears is based on the poem by Philip Larkin Damnées Femmes, which ends with the words The only sound heard is the sound of tears.

The first single Refugees was released in April 2005 and got into the UK charts at # 9 The song also celebrated in Germany on 4 May 2005 premiere, when he was completely played out in the context of the UK chart show at The Thing. In June 2005, followed by the extraction Lovers that could reach number 24 in the UK charts and also published in June 2005 album Here come The Tears reached # 15 in the UK charts.
