The Trash Can Sinatras

The Trash Can Sinatras are a Scottish indie pop band from Irvine, North Ayrshire.

Band History

The Trash Can Sinatras were founded in 1987 by Frank Reader, brothers John and Stephen Douglas and Paul Livingston and George McDaid as a cover band. At a gig in a bar they were by Simon Dine, Go! Discovered discs and contracted.

In early 1990 they made with their first release Obscurity Knocks first attracted attention, although the EP missed the Top 75 on the British charts. The second song Only Tongue Can Tell, the precursor to their debut album, became a radio hit in the United States and came in the top 10 rock charts. The album Cake came then both in the UK and in the U.S. in the charts, where it stayed for 13 weeks.

In 1993 she had another hit single with Hayfever and also the album I've Seen Everything has been quite successful. Nevertheless, the success began to subside, and three years later her album A Happy Pocket was released only in the UK and brought them no further chart positions more. Then, when even the label changed hands, the band finally stood there without a record deal and went bankrupt with their own recording studio.

In the following years kept the band members were still occasionally contact and together on. They even put together another album, which was never published. Only in 2004 she brought a Scottish Kulturförderprogamm for South -by -Southwest Festival in Texas, which eventually led to a new contract with the New York label Spin Art. With Weightlifting appeared a new album, which they reported back again in the same year. This was followed by an extensive tour that took them to Japan and Australia except by the States and the British Isles. After a live album and DVD released before the Trashcan Sinatras In 2007, a new album. But they had only one pitch and their U.S. label was the same year in bankruptcy. The next album finally appeared in 2009 at Lo -Five Records under the title In the Music.
