The Ugly Duckling is an American animated short film directed by Jack Cutting from the year 1939.

Action

Duck and Drake are impatient, hatching their children can read it shortly. A short time later, it is come: the two are proud parents of four yellow ducklings. An egg but only jumps a short time later. The result is a small white chick is completely different sounds. Duck and Drake got into an argument about the invader and separate. While Mother duck makes first swimming attempts with their chick " ugly duckling", which is a swan excluded, and sees himself in his water mirror image so that it looks different. Sadly, it goes away.

Production

The ugly duckling was published on April 7, 1939 as the last part of Disney's beloved film series Silly Symphonies. The film is loosely based on the fairy tale The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen. 1931 Disney had filmed the story as a black -and-white animated film in the Silly Symphonies - series.

Awards

The Ugly Duckling won the 1940 Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film ".
