The Ultimate Incantation (English for " The Ultimate Spell " ) is the debut album by the Polish death metal band Vader.

Genesis

After the successful demo Morbid Reich Vader received a contract with the British music label Earache Records, which then released the first album of the band. A video clip for the song Dark Age was produced. After the release of The Ultimate Incantation Vader lost the contract with Earache Records again, however.

All titles (1989 ) were represented at the two demos Morbid Reich and Necrolust were newly added to the songs "Reborn in Flames " and "The Wrath" for this album. Both demos were re-released on an album called Reborn in chaos.

Vader toured following the publication as support of Bolt Thrower and Grave Europe. During the subsequent tour as headliners in their own country, Poland, the band cut with the live album The Darkest Age. The live album contains up to several intros and a cover version of Hell Awaits ( Slayer ) only songs of their debut album.

The cover artwork of the album comes from Dan Seagrave, who has already painted the covers of bands like Morbid Angel, Dismember or Malevolent Creation.

Importance

The album was panned in Germany by the then established metal magazines. Meanwhile, the album became a classic of brutal Death Metal.
