The Village in the Treetops

The village in the air is a short novel by French writer Jules Verne. The novel was first published on July 11, 1901 by the publisher Pierre -Jules Hetzel in Paris under the French title Le Village Aérien. The first German edition appeared also in 1901 under the title The village in the air. The English title of the novel is The Village in the Treetops (also The Aerial Village ).

Action

The American John Cort and Frenchman Max Huber encounter on an expedition in the interior of Africa on an impenetrable forest. At the edge of the forest their equipment is trampled by a herd of rampaging elephants; they can only save themselves along with their servants Khamis and the black boy Llanga walk into the interior of the forest. The elephants they can not follow because the trees are too close together.

After crossing the forest they encounter near the forest on a river. Along the river you will find first a rotten raft, later a large iron cage.
