Thekchok Dorje, 14th Karmapa Lama

Thegchog Dorje ( Tib. theg rdo rje mchog; * 1798/99 in Kham, † 1868/69 ) was the 14th Karmapa of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Life

The 14th Karmapa Dorje was Thegchog of 8 Gyelwang Drugpa Künsig Nangwa Chokyi ( 1768-1822 ), owner of the left by Düdul Dorje letter with the prediction about his next birth, recognized. He was enthroned later of 9 Tai Situpa Pema Nyinche Wangpo ( 1774-1853 ). Künsig Chokyi Nangwa and Pema Nyinche Wangpo taught him.

Thegchog Dorje was a gifted poet, like philosophical debates and participated in the Rime movement. Many well-known student of Tibetan Buddhism ( Vajrayana ) had at the time of the Tekchog Dorje very interested in an exchange of their respective traditions. Among his most famous Kongtrul Lodro Thaye and pupils were the treasure finder Choggyur Lingpa (1829-1870), from which he also received Tantras of the Nyingmapa.

Choggyur Lingpa also had important visions of the future Karmapa until the twenty-first. These visions were documented in a thangka. Spiritual Heritage of the 14th Karmapa Thaye was Kongtrul Lodro. Thegchog Dorje was in many parts of Tibet teachings and recognized the 10th Tai Situpa Pema Kunzang Chögyel ( 1854-1885 ). He died at the age of 71 years and left a letter with predictions about his next birth. Kongtrul Lodro Thaye was now the main lineage holder of the Karma Kagyu.
