Theni (also: Teni, Tamil: தேனி Teni [te ː ni ] ) is a city in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Along with the neighboring Allinagaram it forms the city (municipality ) Theni - Allinagaram. According to the 2011 census Theni - Allinagaram has approximately 94,000 inhabitants. The city is the administrative center of the district of Theni.

Theni Tamil Nadu lies in the southwest near the border of the neighboring Federal state of Kerala surrounded Kambam valley of the foothills of the Western Ghats. Through the town, the river Theniyar, which merges a few kilometers later with the Vaigai River flows. The nearest large town is 75 km east of Madurai. Theni is located on one of the most important transport links between Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the National Highway 49, which crosses coming from Rameswaram via Madurai the Western Ghats and leads to Kochi. About the railway line Madurai Theni Bodinayakkanur is connected to the railway network. In early 2011 the rail traffic was discontinued in order to switch the route by meter gauge to broad gauge Indian.
