Théodore Salomé

Théodore - César Salomé ( born January 20, 1834 in Paris, † July 26, 1896 in Saint- Germain -en- Laye ) was a French organist and composer.

Salomé studied at the Conservatoire de Paris harmony with François Bazin, composition with Ambroise Thomas and organ with François Benoist. In 1861 he won the First Second Grand Prix de Rome. He then became organist of the Cavaillé -Coll choir organ at La Trinité ( Paris), the architect Théodore Ballu had built 1861-1867 at Place d' Estienne d'Orves. He held the position until 1895; His successor was the operetta composer Claude Terrasse.

Organist of the great Cavaillé -Coll organ at Sainte- Trinité was initially Alexis Chauvet, then since 1871 Alexandre Guilmant. Meanwhile concert tours took him Salomé at the great organ.
