Théophile Georges Kassab

Théophile Georges Kassab ( born June 5, 1945 in Zaidal, Syria, † October 22, 2013 in Lebanon ) was Syrian- Catholic Archbishop of Homs.

Life

Théophile Georges Kassab received on 6 October 1974, the sacrament of Holy Orders by Archbishop Joseph Jacob Abiad. He served in the Syrian Catholic archeparchy Homs, among other things as Vicar General.

On May 8, 1999, Pope John Paul II named Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Nabk. The Syrian Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, Ignatius Moussa I Daoud, donated to him on March 3, 2000, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Syrian- Catholic Archbishop of Hassake - Nisibi, Jacques Behnan Hindo, and the Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Aleppo, Antoine Denys Raboula Beylouni. He died as a war refugee in Lebanon.

Théophile Georges Kassab 2008 was head of the committee that will guide the Syrian Catholic Patriarchate until the election of the new Syrian Catholic Patriarch and the same apostolic administrator " sede vacante " of the Patriarchal Eparchy.
