Theun de Vries

Theun de Vries ( born April 26, 1907 in Veenwouden, Friesland, † January 21, 2005 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch writer, poet and politician.

His most famous work is the novel The Girl with the red hair of 1956 (1981 under the title Het meisje met het rode hair filmed by Ben Verbong ) on the resistance fighter Hannie Schaft.

Theun de Vries was a member of the Communist Party of the Netherlands (CPN ) for which he sat in the council of Amsterdam. Its membership was resented him during the Cold War by authors colleagues.
