Thomas A. Tomlinson

Thomas Ash Tomlinson (* March 1802 in New York City; † June 18, 1872 in Keeseville, Clinton County, New York) was an American lawyer, soldier and politician.

Career

Thomas Ash Tomlinson attended schools in Champlain and Plattsburgh (New York). He studied law, was admitted to the bar and then began 1823 in Keeseville on practicing. In addition, he worked as a factory owner and land speculator. He also served in the militia, where he held the rank of colonel.

Tomlinson was in 1835 and in 1836 a member of the New York State Assembly in the years. He was elected as a Whig in the 13th Congressional District of New York in the 27th U.S. Congress, where he worked between 4 March 1841 to 3 March 1843. After the expiration of his term he returned to his job as a lawyer and also went back to the real estate business after. He ran unsuccessfully in 1859 for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Tomlinson died 1872 in Keeseville and was buried there in the Evergreen Cemetery.
