Thomas David McConkey

Thomas David McConkey ( born July 29, 1815 in County Tyrone, † February 21, 1890 in Barrie ) was a businessman and political figure in Ontario. He represented Simcoe North in the Canadian House of Commons as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada from 1867 to 1872.

He was born 1815 in Ireland, County Tyrone, the son of Thomas McConkey 1828 and came with his family to Innisfil in Upper Canada. McConkey was a merchant in Barrie. He served there as Vogt and watched over Simcoe County from 1860 to 1861. McConkey was an unsuccessful candidate for the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada in 1861. He was elected in 1863 and worked up to the Canadian Confederation in 1867 he was re-elected. He later served as Sheriff of Simcoe County until he died in Barrie in 1890.
