Thomas Gallus

Thomas Gallus (also Thomas of St. Victor or Thomas Vercelli) (* 1190, † December 5, 1246 in Vercelli) was a French philosopher and scholastics.

Gallus was the school of St. Victor a turn to mysticism. He established here in particular to the so-called mysticism of Dionysius Pseudo- Areopagite, to which he wrote a comprehensive commentary in four parts. In addition, many comments are received on biblical books from him.

He was friends with Anthony of Padua; Petrus Johannis Olivi admired him.

Thomas died as abbot in St. Victor; His grave is located in the transept of the church of S. Andrea, Vercelli.
