Thomas Hörster

Hörster Thomas ( born November 27, 1956 in Essen) is a former German football player and coach.

Career

Before Hörster 1977 joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen, he was active for Schwarz-Weiß Essen. Between 1979 and 1991 he played 332 times for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, scoring 16 goals. 1986 nominated team boss Franz Beckenbauer for the defender repurposed midfielder for the national team, where he played four times.

Hoerster greatest sporting achievements were winning the bronze medal at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and winning the UEFA Cup in the same year by a 3-0 win over Espanyol.

After he finished his active career, Hörster was youth coach at Bayer Leverkusen and, in 2001, the U-21 team that played in the Regionalliga. "I want to zoom to bring talents to the professional team and give them a good education along the way ," he said at the time.

On February 16, 2003 Hörster replaced the unsuccessful Klaus Toppmöller from as coach of Bundesliga teams. Until his early repayment on 13 May of the same year he divided talents like Sebastian Schoof and Jan- ginger Callsen- Bracker in the team. He was finally freed from his office, he saw no chance of relegation. However, the succeeded his successor Klaus Augenthaler with two wins in the last two games. Hörster switched back to the youth program and took responsibility for the U19. After winning the German U-19 Championship 2007 Hörster took a job in the scouting department of Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
