Thomas Riedl

Thomas Riedl ( born June 18, 1976 in Kaiserslautern ) is a former German football player and an active football coach.

Career as an active player

Riedl began his professional career at the 1 FC Kaiserslautern in 1994. His father John Riedl ( 1950-2010 ) had played in the 1970s for Kaiserslautern. 1997/98 he was surprisingly promoted as German champion with FCK. The following season he played with the Red Devils in the Champions League. In 1999 he went to TSV 1860 Munich, then in 2001 back to the Betz mountain. On 27 November 1999, he scored in the derby 1860 Munich against Bayern Munich by one shot in 85 minutes of the 1-0 winning goal for the Lions. Thus the 1860s managed the first derby win for 22 years.

In 2001 he returned to the first FCK. Even during the 2005/06 season, had lost in the Riedl his place, it was announced that he has to leave the club at end of season. The season ended with the descent of Kaiserslautern. The midfielder went to Austria and signed for appearing as FC Superfund ASKOE Traun in the Bundesliga. The club plays since 2007 in Klagenfurt as SK Austria Kärnten. For the 2010/11 season he returned to Germany and signed a contract with the third division Eintracht Trier. In January 2011 he moved to the south- Oberliga SC Idar -Oberstein, with whom he was at the end of the season champion.

For the season 2011/12 he moved to FK Pirmasens. He signed a one year contract and ended after the season his active career.

Riedl lives in the western Palatinate Mehlingen. Riedl, father of three sons, is owned by the trainer A license while directing since 2010 an agency of the Signal Iduna insurance as an insurance broker.

Career as a coach

Thomas Riedl began his career as a coach in the 2013/14 season at the side of Olaf Marschall at SC 07 Idar -Oberstein in the big leagues Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar.
