Thomas Sobotzik

Thomas Sobotzik ( born October 16, 1974 in Gliwice ) is a former German football player of Polish descent.

Career

Thomas Sobotzik began his football career at age six when his native Piast Gliwice. At age nine, he moved to Gornik Zabrze. He and his family moved in 1987 to Frankfurt on the Main, where he was a pupil of the Helmholtz school and was accepted after a short time at Eintracht Frankfurt. Soon, he played in the U15. After a brief stopover at VfB Stuttgart, where he was twice German youth champion, he returned in 1990 to Frankfurt. There he received at age 17 already a professional contract. Due to a serious knee injury in 1991, he had to pause a long time.
