Thorsten Heins

Thorsten Heins Gerhard ( born December 29, 1957 in Gifhorn ) is a German manager and was between January 2012 and November 2013 CEO of the Canadian smartphone manufacturer Blackberry.

Life

Heins studied computer science and physics at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover. In 1984, he began in the communications division of Siemens AG and was at his departure from the Group CTO. With RIM he started in 2007 as senior vice president of the " BlackBerry Handheld Business Unit " & " COO of Product Engineering". In July 2011, he was " COO of Product and Sales ". In January 2012, convened the RIM founders Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis Heins the new President and CEO of Research In Motion.

In November 2013, the Company announced that Heins resigns.

Heins is married and has two children.
