Thy Serpent

Thy Serpent is a Finnish dark metal band.

History

The band originated as a solo project of guitarist Sami Tenetz, after two demos, he signed a contract with label Spinefarm Records. In 1996 the album Forest of Witchery, followed a year later the album Lords of Twilight and also another year later Christcrusher. After this release the band was on a short tour with Barathrum eight concerts in Finland. After some line-up changes in 2000 produced as a final project, the EP Death. Although after the tour with Barathrum no concerts were more took place and no further recordings taken, no breakup of the band was announced.

Music style

On Into Everlasting Fire played Sami Tenetz atmospheric, black -metal- influenced mid-tempo music with drum machines, occasional use of an acoustic guitar and synthesizer frequent use. The music was reminiscent of Burzum and ( partly because of the synthesizer) Emperor. Since the texts "dark", but were not satanic, the band called their music as dark metal and not as Black Metal. Tenetz stated that he thinks Satanism interesting and support the anti-Christian views of the Black Metal mostly, but do not follow any of the satanic bands.
