Tiffany (Album)

Tiffany is the title of the debut album by Tiffany, released in September 1987.

History

The recordings for the album began in 1984, when Tiffany was twelve years old and could only be completed in May 1987. It been over 4.1 million copies of the album were sold. It contains two cover versions: I Saw Him Standing There ( Original text: I Saw Her Standing There by The Beatles from the year 1963) and I Think We're Alone Now ( Originally by Tommy James & the Shondells from the year 1967). Although the first single Danny not had the desired effect, the worldwide sales success came with the song I Think We're Alone Now.

After the failure of Feelings of Forever critics rated Tiffany as a " manufactured pop star " whose career is at a standstill and could not bring further success after the second album. However, with the song All This Time from the second album Hold an Old Friend's Hand she reached again the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100

After the release the album broke into the U.S. charts from the Faith by George Michael and was then replaced them also.

Reception

The album received mixed review. Bryan Buss of Allmusic awarded 2.5 stars and said that it would be a reasonably successful debut for such a young artist. Robert Christgau awarded the grade of B and says that Beatle Maniacs Tiffany's music would probably like.
