Tikhon Rabotnov

Tikhon Alexandrovich Rabotnow, (Russian Тихон Александрович Работнов, scientific transliteration Tikhon Aleksandrovič Rabotnov, also English transcribed Tikhon Alexandrovich Rabotnov; born August 6, 1904 in Yaroslavl, Russia, † 16 September 2000) was a Russian plant ecologists and university professor.

Life and work

Rabotnow studied at the Agricultural Department of the University Yaroslavl and graduated from there in 1924. He then worked at the State Institute of Grassland Research in Moscow. During this time he explored grassland societies, in, Yakutia and central Russia, where he developed methods for grassland management and has won numerous insights into the biology and autecology of grassland plants.

For his scientific achievements, he was appointed Dr. hc appointed (1936) and received the title of professor in 1950.

In his work " Ziznennyi Cikl mnogoletnich travyanistych rastenij v lugovych cenozach " (English: "The life cycle of perennial plants in meadow communities" ), which was published in 1950, he represented his new method of vegetation analysis, however, the long of the Western European vegetation Kund learning has been ignored.

The Austrian plant ecologists Walter Larcher and Erich Huebl gave his textbook under the title Phytozönologie: out structure and dynamics of natural ecosystems in 1992.
