Tiko United

Tiko United is a football club from Cameroon, located in Tiko, who plays in the Première Division, the top division of the country.

History

The club was in the early 1960s as a CDC Tiko founded by the Cameroon Development Corporation. But until the 1980s, they stopped the promotion step by step and tea production, one of the main branches of the company was taken over by a citizens' cooperative. The club was then renamed in Tiko United.

In the 2008 /09 season, the men's team of the club for the first time won in the 50 year history of the championship in Cameroon's highest league and therefore qualified automatically for a place in the current February-November 2010 CAF Champions League 2010. Here came the team in the group stage after a 2-2 draw in the first leg and a 5-3 penalty victory after another 2-2 draw in the return match against the Burundian Association Vital'O FC in the first round of the Champions League. There, the team dropped out after a 2-2 draw in the first leg and a 1-1 draw on away goals against the Nigerian representative of Heartland FC from the current competition. In the Cameroonian season 2009/10 looked for the men's team of the club in the Championship, the third place in the table out.
