Tim Krabbé

Tim Krabbé ( born April 13, 1943 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch writer, chess master and chess curiosities collectors.

Life

Krabbé comes from a family of artists. His father Maarten Krabbé (1908-2005) was a painter, his mother a writer and translator. His brother Jeroen Krabbé is a famous director and actor, the half-brother Mirko Krabbé is an artist and designer.

After graduation in 1960, he studied psychology at the University of Amsterdam and worked as an actor and a journalist before he completely devoted himself to writing. Since 1967, the year in which his Roman De werkelijke moord op Kitty Duisenberg appeared, he writes thematically diverse novels, short stories and journalistic works. His books have been translated into 18 languages.

The psychological suspense novel Het Gouden Ei ( German: The Golden Egg ) from 1984, peaked in the Netherlands during the first 20 years with a circulation of 185,000 and is more common reading material at Dutch schools. He has been filmed twice: in 1988 as a Dutch-French production Vanishing of George Sluizer and 1993 as the U.S. remake of The Vanishing. A total of six films were made for templates Krabbé to two he wrote the screenplay. 2009 wrote Krabbé with Een blackboard vol butterfly Dutch Boekenweekgeschenk.

In the years 1967-1972 Krabbé, a passionate chess player belonged to the extended tip of the Dutch chess and participated in national championships. He pressed repeatedly as a chess composer by composing studies and tasks. Krabbé published three chess books: a biography of the former world chess champion Bobby Fischer and two collections of curios and records in chess. He is the co - namesake of the Pam - Krabbé - castling.

Krabbé was married and has a son. He lives in Amsterdam.
