Tim Roth
Tim Roth ( born May 14, 1961 in Dulwich, London as Timothy Simon Smith ) is a British actor.
Life
The son of a journalist and a teacher and painter first attended the Camberwell College of Art to study sculpture. But then Roth, decided to become an actor. Despite the lack of training, he soon got roles in various English theaters.
He had in 1983 in the role of young skinheads Trevor in Made in Britain, his cinematic debut in 1984 in The Hit His first television role. In 1989, he starred in Robert Altman's Vincent & Theo Drama painter Vincent van Gogh.
In 1990, he moved to Los Angeles. His sullen and introverted nature quickly became his trademark. 1991 Roth was occupied by Quentin Tarantino for his directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs, which made him internationally known. Three years later there was the cult movie Pulp Fiction and Four Rooms again a collaboration between the two.
He had further success with Gridlock'd - full on it, Woody Allen's Everyone Says: I love you, Vatel and Planet of the Apes. In 1999, he was with the incest drama The War Zone, his directorial debut. In 1994 he received an Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actor for Rob Roy. From 2009 to 2011, he was in a leading role in the Fox series Lie to me to see. In 2012 he was presented at the 65th Film Festival in Cannes as jury president of the Un Certain Regard.
Roth is married since 1993 with Nikki Butler, with whom he has two sons. From his first marriage to actress Lori Baker he has another son.
