Timothy A. McDonnell

Timothy Anthony McDonnell ( born December 23, 1937 in New York City ) is Bishop of Springfield.

Life

After studying Catholic theology and philosophy at St. Joseph 's Seminary in Yonkers Timothy McDonnell received on 1 June 1963 the New York Archbishop, Francis Cardinal Spellman, at St. Patrick's Cathedral to the priesthood.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 30 October 2001 as Titular Bishop of seminars and auxiliary bishop in New York. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Edward Michael Egan, on 12 December of the same year; Co-consecrators were Henry Joseph Mansell, Bishop of Buffalo, and Robert Anthony Brucato, Auxiliary Bishop of New York. In addition, Cardinal Egan in 2002 he was appointed Vicar General of the Archdiocese of New York.

On 9 March 2004 he was appointed John Paul II as Bishop of Springfield; on April 1 of that year, McDonnell was introduced there solemnly in his office.

He was invested in 2004 in St. Michael's Cathedral in Springfield in the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem.
