Timothy Broglio

Timothy Paul Andrew Broglio, Timothy P. Broglio short, ( born December 22, 1951 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop of the U.S. Military Ordinariate.

Life

Timothy Broglio studied after visiting the Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland at Boston College Classical Studies. He entered the seminary and studied there and at the Pontifical Gregorian University Catholic theology and philosophy. On 19 May 1977 he received by Cardinal Sergio Pignedoli the priesthood and was in the parish of St. Margaret Mary in South Euclid, Ohio, works. In 1979 he returned to Rome and studied at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. In 1983 he was at the Gregorian University Dr. iur. can. doctorate and joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See.

He was in the Nunciatures in the Ivory Coast (1983-1987) and Paraguay (1987-1990) worked, then with responsibility for Central America in the Vatican Secretariat of State in Rome and Personal Secretary of State, Cardinal Angelo Sodano.

On 27 February 2001 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II, Titular Archbishop of Amiternum and appointed apostolic nuncio in the Dominican Republic and Apostolic Delegate in Puerto Rico. The episcopal ordination on 19 March 2001 gave him Pope John Paul II himself; Co-consecrators were the Curia cardinals Angelo Sodano and Giovanni Battista Re.

On 19 November 2007 he was appointed as the successor to Edwin Frederick O'Brien Archbishop of the American Military Ordinariate.

He is a director of the private Catholic Distance University ( CDU) in Hamilton, Virginia. He is Commander of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem.
