Timrå Municipality

Timrå is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province Västernorrland County and the historic Medelpad. The main town of the municipality is Timrå.

Other towns are Bergeforsen, Stavreviken, Söråker etc. Through the village leads the European route E04.

Geography

The municipality covers 25 km along the Baltic coast and 40 kilometers into the interior.

Economy

Pulp and paper industry are traditional industries in the community and have a dominant position. Also the Midlanda airport northeast of the capital is a major employer.

Attractions

In Bergeforsen few kilometers north-east of Timrå there is a large hydroelectric plant. At the power plant is a museum, Älvens hus. A little further down river is one of the largest salmon farming operations in Europe. The plant and the aquarium are open for visitors during summer.

Lögdö bruk, about 7 kilometers northeast of Timrå located at Stavreviken, is an old iron factory, which was founded in the 17th century and was abandoned in the 19th century.
