Titiwangsa Mountains

The Sankarakhiri Mountains ( Thai: เทือกเขา สัน กา รา คีรี, pronounced [ t ʰ ʉak -k ʰ AO San -ka ː ra ː ki ː ri ː ], different spelling: San Kala Khiri, or Sankala Khiri ) is the northern part of the Titiwangsa mountain range, the main mountain landscape on the Malay Peninsula, which forms a natural border between the West Coast and the East Coast. The Titiwangsa mountain range runs through the provinces of Songkhla, Pattani and Narathiwat in the south of Thailand and across the state line to Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia. The highest mountain of Sankarakhiri mountain range, Ulu Titi Basah ( ยู ลู ติ ติ บา ซา ห์ ) with 1533 m height, located on the border between Yala and Perak.

Nature Reserves

There are several national parks and wildlife sanctuaries in the mountains:

  • National Park San Kara Khiri ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ สัน กา รา คีรี ) - Size: 214 km ², the headquarters is located in the province of Songkhla.
  • National Park Budo Su- ngai Padi ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ บู โด - สุไหงปาดี ) - Size 341 km ², the headquarters is located in the province of Narathiwat.
  • Namtok Sai Khao National Park ( Thai: อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก ทรายขาว ) - Size 110 square km, the headquarters is located in the province of Pattani.
  • Hala -bala Wildlife Park - Two-piece Park ( section Hala and Bala section ) in southern Narathiwat province, 434 km ² size, popular with bird - watchers.
