Pattani Province

Pattani ( Thai: ปัตตานี ) is a province ( Changwat ) in the southern region of Thailand. The provincial capital is also called Pattani Pattani.

Mostly inhabited by Muslim Malays, consisted in this region for a long time the Sultanate of Pattani as Siamese vassal state.

Geography

History

The area was settled in the early days, the oldest traces can be seen today in Amphoe Yarang.
