Mai Kaen District

Amphoe May Kaen ( Thai: อำเภอ ไม้แก่น ) is the southernmost district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of Pattani Province. The Pattani province is located southeast of the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are ( from south clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Narathiwat and the Bacho Narathiwat Province and Amphoe Sai Buri in the province of Pattani. To the east is the Gulf of Thailand.

History

Mae Kaen was posted on November 15, 1973 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the two Tambon Sai Thong and May Kaen from Amphoe Sai Buri were separated. On July 4, 1994 Mae Kaen got the full Amphoe status.

Management

Amphoe May Kaen is divided into four subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 17 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
