Nong Chik District

Nong Chik ( Thai: หนองจิก ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Pattani. The Pattani province is located southeast of South Thailand in the Gulf of Thailand.

Geography

Adjacent counties and regions are ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Pattani which, Yarang, Mae Lan and Khok Pho in Pattani Province and Amphoe Thepha in the province of Songkhla. To the north lies the Gulf of Thailand.

History

Nong Chik was one of the seven city-states ( Mueang ), in which the Kingdom of Pattani was divided in the early 19th century to break the power of the often rebellious Sultan of Pattani. The administration was initially in Tambon Nong Mai district Yarang, 1901 but was moved to Tu Yong, where it is located today.

Attractions

  • Ratchadaphisek beach ( Thai: หาด รัชดาภิเษก ) - Sandy beach about 2 km north of the district capital. At the edge of the beach donate pines shade.

Traffic

  • The Bo Thong airport of Pattani is located in the district of Nong Chik.

Management

Amphoe Nong Chik is divided into 12 subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 74 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Bo Thong consists of the whole tambon Bo Thong and parts of the tambon Kayu Boko,
  • Nong Chik consists of parts of the tambon Tu Yong.

In addition, there are eleven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
