Tito Petkovski

Tito Petkovski ( born January 23, 1945 in Psača, Rankovce, Macedonia ) is a Macedonian politician.

Biography

After school he studied law at the University of Skopje, and later was an employee in the State Planning Office.

As a candidate of the League of Communists Macedonian ( Soyuz na na Makedonija Komunistite, SKM ), he was first elected in 1991 as Member of Parliament and was initially to 1994, Vice- President of the Parliament. Petkovski was between 1996 and 1998 President of the Parliament ( Sobranie ).

On 14 November 1999, he was the candidate of the Sojuz na Makedonija Socijaldemokratski ( SDSM ) in the presidential election, but was defeated Boris Trajkovski in the runoff significantly with 45 to 52 percent of the vote.

In November 2005 he resigned from the SDSM and founded instead the New Social Democratic Party ( Nova socijaldemokratska partija, NSDP ), which he is chairman since then.
