Tjeldsundet

Geographical location

The northern part lies between the towns of Harstad in Troms and Skånland, while the southern part lies in Nordland between the municipalities Tjeldsundet (Municipality) and Lødingen. The southern entrance to the Straits begins in place Lødingen the Ofotfjord and the city of Harstad is located at the northern end, where the strait opens into the Vågsfjord.

The Tjeldsundbrücke (Norwegian Tjeldsundbrua ) Hinnøya connects to the mainland. The E10, which is referred to here as Kong Olav Vs vei, goes across the bridge. The bridge is also part of the connection between Harstad and the Airport Harstad / Narvik (Norwegian Harstad / Narvik Lufthamn, Evenes ).
