Tobias A. Schliessler
Tobias A. Schliessler ( born November 5, 1958 in Baden -Baden ) is a German cinematographer.
Life
Tobias Schliessler is the son of documentary filmmaker and artist Martin Schliessler ( 1929-2008 ). His brother Jochen is a documentary filmmaker, his sister Tina is a photographer and illustrator.
He grew up in Baden -Baden. Schliesslers family emigrated in 1979 to Vancouver, Canada, where he later studied at Simon Fraser University. After graduating as a cameraman he shot documentaries, commercials and independent films before he increasingly worked for Canadian television since the late 1980s. After Los Angeles, he moved in 1997, where he has since worked as a cinematographer on such films as Dreamgirls, Hancock and Battleship. In each case a number of films he made with the directors Bill Condon and Peter Berg. He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers.
Schliessler is the father of actress Aisha Jau.
