Togiak is a traditional place of Yupik Inuit in the Dillingham Census Area, Alaska. According to the 2000 census, there lived 809 people. Togiak is located on the Togiak Bay near the mouth of the Togiak River in the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge and is the starting point for Walrus Iceland Game Sanctuary.

History

1880 was " Old Togiak " or " Togiagamute " on the other side of the bay and had a population of 276 Heavy winter snowfalls made ​​for gathering wood in Old Togiak difficult, and so the people moved gradually to the other side where this is easier had. After the devastating flu epidemic 1918/19, attracted many residents from the Yukon - Kuskokwim region to Togiak. In an old church, a school, a school building was established in 1950, built in 1959.
