Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra

The Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra (short TKWO ) is a 1960 based in Tokyo symphonic band. It is counted among the best symphonic concert bands in the world.

History

The TKWO was founded in 1960 by a Buddhist organization Rissho Kōseikai called as Tokyo Kosei Symphonic Band. In 1973 the orchestra in Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra was renamed. From 1984 to 1996, it was led by American conductor Frederick Fennell, Eastman Wind Ensemble of the founder. Since 2000, it is headed by Douglas Bostock.

The TKWO made ​​numerous concert tours; the first European tour in 1989 led to Austria, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Switzerland. In 1993, a concert tour in Switzerland, in late 1999 we undertook the The Millennium Concert Tour to Taiwan. In April 2002, an Asia tour in Taiwan, Singapore and Macau. In December, the orchestra undertook the first tour in the United States and performed at two concerts as part of the 56th annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago. The first appearance in Germany takes place in 2010 in Ulm.

The orchestra has released more than 300 CDs.
