Hen with chicks ( Tolmiea menziesii), also known as Alive sheet, is the only species in the genus Tolmiea in the family Saxifragaceae ( Saxifragaceae ). It is located in north-western North America and is used as an ornamental plant in parks, gardens and rooms.

Description

Vegetative characteristics

The hen with chicks is an evergreen, perennial, herbaceous plant. It is a rhizome formed as Überdauerungsorgan; it can be seen on his halbaren leaf bases.

The stalked leaves are arranged in a basal rosette and on the stem. Occurrence

Hen with chicks occurs in British Columbia, Alaska, Oregon and Washington in the northwestern North America. It grows on river banks and in moist forests at altitudes 0-1800 meters.

Use

Hen with chickens scattered used as an ornamental plant for groups of trees, traffic lights, balconies and rooms. It is in culture at least since 1812. The variety ' Taff 's Gold' has bright green leaves that are covered with white and yellow spots or dots.
