Tom Bertram ( born March 30, 1987 in Halle ( Saale) ) is a former German football player. He was center-back and was recently since August 2010 at third division FC Rot -Weiß Erfurt under contract. His father Thomas Bertram was also footballer and played for Rot-Weiß Erfurt some games in the DDR Oberliga.

Career

Youth

At the age of five years, Tom Bertram joined the FC Rot -Weiss Erfurt and ran until 2005, all youth teams of the club. His great talent was also nationally recognized, so Bertram also aground for all junior teams of the DFB.

Professional career

After the descent of the first team of the 2nd Bundesliga overtook coach Pavel Dotchev Bertram into the first team, although he was still eligible to play for the U -19. Despite his age of just 18, he won at first a regular place in central defense and denied the Thuringian 33 games in his first season in the regional league. Despite numerous interested parties from higher leagues, Bertram decided to stay another year at his hometown club. There he could build on his achievements from the previous year and made his debut in the U-21 national team.

For the season 2007/ 08 he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for SpVgg Greuther Fürth. There, however, he could hardly set a course and only came on matchday 17 against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim his first appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the second round he played five more times. The following year, he was then turned to the second team, so he left the Franks during the winter break. As of January 2009, he was the ascent aspirants SC Paderborn 07 under contract. At the beginning of the season he played one more time, then finished with a serious injury (cruciate and lateral ligament tear) for him the season prematurely. The SCP was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga, but Bertram was injured again hard, before he was even used just one more time.

As of August 2010 he was back at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the 3rd league contract. Initially he played there only in the league team to get back to catch up, from the 12th Season Match it ended up being a regular in the first team coach Stefan Emmerling and remained so in the season 2011 /12. At the beginning of the 2012/13 season stopped him again a knee injury that had his disability sport result and forced him on March 19, 2013 the cessation of his active career.
