Tom Ford
Thomas Carlyle "Tom" Ford ( born August 27, 1961 in Austin, Texas) is an American fashion designer and film director.
Career
He was born in 1961 in Austin and spent his childhood in Santa Fe ( New Mexico). He began at New York University in New York to study art history, but he broke off. Then Ford took in 1986 to study architecture at the Parsons School of Design in which he completed in Paris at the city's Parsons School of Design. His goal was to be a fashion designer, like his idol Calvin Klein.
After graduation, he worked at Cathy Hardwick and Perry Ellis as a designer until he was in 1990 by Dawn Mellow, the former Gucci creative director discovered. His job at Gucci in Milan Womenswear designer was to renew the financially troubled label around. He was appointed Design Director and Creative Director 1994 1992. A year later, he achieved his breakthrough. Due to the consequent modernization of the company and an advertising campaign orchestrated by the Peruvian star photographer Mario Testino, in a busy Ford, the company with new splendor.
Through Ford's change in the Gucci looks toward glamor was the value of the luxury label, which in 1993 was strong run down, in 1999 approximately 4.3 billion U.S. dollars. On November 4, 2003 Ford left Gucci Group to found his own fashion label Tom Ford together with Domenico de Sole (President of Gucci Group). In the fall of 2006, he presented the first collections, in April 2007, he opened the first Tom Ford flagship store in New York. His fashion label Tom Ford, which focuses on men's clothing and accessories, made since then in the fashion industry worldwide attention at the highest level and is in demand as established fashion labels. In particular sunglasses - men and women - were in high demand during the summer season 2007. Due to the rarity of Tom Ford 's clothing and the meaning of the name of the fashion designer, the label became a high priority in the first year. 2009 Ford presented with the drama A Single Man made his feature film debut as a director before. The film, starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore in the lead roles received an invitation to compete in the 66th Film Festival of Venice and brought Firth 2010 Oscar nomination in the category " Best Actor " one.
Private
Since 1987, Ford has with his partner, fashion journalist Richard Buckley, together.
On September 23, 2012 Ford was the first time father. In Los Angeles, his son Alexander John Buckley Ford was born.
